A good plonker
At the tower where I regularly ring we have recently been joined, at least occasionally, by an esteemed member of the clergy team. He introduced himself to us as not being very proficient but in his words: “I am a good plonker”. By which he meant he was good at ringing the tenor behind.
In the Bible we are encouraged to recognise our gifts and use them for the building up of the team as a whole. This extends not just to our ringing itself – you may be a good plonker, an expert treble ringer or someone who is good at correcting errors. It can also apply to more general gifts that can help build and grow a team – are you a good welcomer? Do you have the gift of encouraging? Several members of our team practice hospitality through bringing bags of sweets to share.
So, are you a good plonker? Whatever your gift, exercise it diligently.
